About Us

The story of Little Flock Pentecostal Church (LFPC) began in March 1986 with a heartfelt vision and burden for prayer placed on the heart of (Late) Thomas Mathew. In faithful obedience, he started gathering for prayer in the basement of his home. What began as a solitary prayer meeting soon grew as his wife, children, relatives, neighbors, and friends joined together in worship and fellowship.

As the congregation continued to grow, the ministry was formally incorporated in Nassau County, New York, under the guidance of (Late) Pastor Achoy Mathew. The name Little Flock Pentecostal Church was chosen in honor of a church in Calcutta, India, where Thomas Mathew worshiped during his youth.

Under the leadership of (Late) Pastor Jacob Thomas, LFPC officially began its ministry on January 1, 1987, meeting in the same Elmont basement where it was founded. The church's founding members faith, dedication, and commitment helped establish a strong spiritual foundation for generations to come.

LFPC completed its Articles of Incorporation in February 1990 and amended its certificate in 1991 to obtain 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, enabling the church to expand its ministry and outreach efforts.

In 1992, the church relocated to the Westbury Friends Meeting School Campus at 550 Post Avenue, Westbury, New York. For more than three decades, this campus served as LFPC's home, providing a place for worship, fellowship, discipleship, celebrations, and life-changing encounters with God.

Throughout its history, LFPC has been blessed with faithful pastoral leadership. (Late) Pastor Jacob Thomas shepherded the congregation from 1987 until his passing in 2011. During the transition that followed, Pastor B.J. Christudas and Pastor K.V. Abraham served as interim pastors. They were succeeded by Pastor Robert Johnson (2011-2019), Pastor Joy Thomas (2019-2024), and Pastor James George Oommen, who has been serving as Senior Pastor since 2024. In 2021, LFPC further expanded its ministry with the appointment of Pastor Joshua Thomas as the church's first Youth Pastor.

A significant milestone in the church's journey came on May 25, 2025, when LFPC held its final worship service at the Westbury campus and transitioned to its new church home at 49 Blake Avenue, Lynbrook, New York.

Today, LFPC continues its mission to glorify God, proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, disciple believers, and serve as a beacon of hope within the community and beyond. From a small basement prayer gathering to a thriving congregation, our story stands as a testimony to God's faithfulness and the unwavering dedication of His people throughout nearly four decades of ministry.

At LFPC, we believe in sharing Christ's love both locally and globally through missions, outreach, and compassionate service.

The church currently provides financial and spiritual support to four pastors serving in Goa, India.

LFPC also sponsors the education of five children, helping provide opportunities for a brighter future.

Each year, our congregation partners with Operation Christmas Child, sharing gifts and the message of God's love with children around the world. In addition, LFPC offers charitable assistance to individuals and families experiencing hardship, reflecting Christ's compassion through practical support and care for those in need.
